This time around, psych resident Zoe Goldman is faced with a troubling case: an anonymous young patient arrives in a catatonic state, and it's up to Zoe to bring her back and learn her identity. As she juggles ongoing issues in her personal and professional life, Zoe tries to solve the mystery: who is this Jane Doe, and what is her story? The answers surprise both Zoe and us readers. The more solidly mystery elements of The Girl Without a Name are relatively standard fare: she does some research on the internet, stays in communication with the police, and takes some medical matters into her own hands on her hunt for the truth about her Jane Doe. What author Sandra Block does best, though, is the incorporation of real psychiatry and therapy into the story.
